South Hill is located in Mecklenburg County in south-central Virginia near the North Carolina state line halfway between the state capitals of Richmond, Virginia and Raleigh, North Carolina (80 miles each). It is also about halfway between the Atlantic Ocean (on the east) and the Blue Ridge Mountains (on the west).

With some 1,150 miles of shoreline visitors enjoy a full range of water activities on the famous and beautiful Lake Gaston, and Buggs Island Lake (Lake Kerr); the largest lake in Virginia. Vast fishing and regional and national bass fishing tournaments are held on them.
We are also located nearby to Lake Rawlings Scuba Diving Park. Listed as one of the top 50 dive sites in the U.S this is a great place to visit.
Hunting is a staple of life here. With the plentiful forests, fertile fields, and bountiful lakes and streams, the area offers a rich habitat for a number of popular wild game species including: whitetail deer, black bear, turkey, fox, rabbit, squirrel, geese and duck.
If you are a golfer you will enjoy plentiful golf courses in the area. With 100 golf holes within 25 miles you surely will not get bored.
If you're a sports enthusiast you'll enjoy the many parks in the area as well. With the brand new state-of-the-art baseball field, South Hill is home to many baseball tournaments. Enjoy playing fields for softball, baseball, soccer, basketball and volleyball at some of the parks; Centennial Park, Parker Park and Veterans Memorial Park.
